Ohio State Football: Teams the Buckeyes should watch out for in 2019.
By Ian O’Brien
1) Michigan
“The Game” as Scarlet and Gray fans call it. This heated rivalry has plenty of history, dating back to the first game in 1897 when the Wolverines defeated the Buckeyes 34-0.
Many games in this series have been nail-biters. During the Woody Hayes-Bo Schembechler era and when Jim Tressel’s squad went up against Lloyd Carr’s, the two teams provided plenty of excitement the last game of the regular season.
That continued into the Urban Meyer era.
Now with Urban gone, the coach who never lost a game to the team up north, it’s time for Ryan Day to take his place. However, coach Day knows this will not be a cake walk.
Jim Harbaugh may have lost players like Devin Bush and Rashan Gary, but will have other defensive players like young sophomore Aidan Hutchinson who is looking to replace Gary at Defensive End.

However, the Wolverines do have concerns for another defensive player in lineman Michael Dwumfour and wide receiver Donovan Peoples Jones who may have season ending injuries according to Harbaugh, which was also reported by The Spun.com. With those talents possibly out, the Wolverines will have to find other stars, especially during week 12 where they host the Buckeyes.
This game will not be like last year’s 62-39 victory and many have Michigan being the favorite in the Big Ten.
The Ohio State defense will have to stop the Michigan offense led by Shea Patterson and Christian Turner, Nico Collins and senior Nate Schoenle who will have to fill in for Peoples-Jones if he is out for the season. The Ohio State offense will look to run all over the Michigan defense with Fields and JK Dobbins and throw to the likes of K.F. Hill, Chris Olave and Austin Mack.
The 2019 season is close at hand and every Buckeye fan fun is hyped. The players will have to focus now and be prepared every single day they step on the field if they don’t want to lose a game like they did last season. Having said that, do you guys think Ohio State will go undefeated or not?
