Miami QB Tate Martell

The 5’11” 210 pound dual threat QB patiently waited his turn in Columbus with J.T. Barrett and Dwayne Haskins ahead of him. After a turn of events with Urban Meyer stepping down and the announcement of Justin Fields transferring to Ohio State, Martell chose to transfer to the University of Miami.

After being granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA, Martell has struggled through parts of spring practice. The quarterback competition remains to be a three-man race between Martell, N’Kosi Perry and Jarren Williams.

Dan Enos, the Hurricane’s new offensive coordinator, brings a whole new offensive scheme to Hurricane’s this season. That means that no one competing for the starting quarterback spot will have an edge over the others.

Enos and Head Coach Manny Diaz convinced Martell to join the Hurricanes but we will see who takes the field as the Hurricanes’ starting QB when they kickoff the 2019 season against Florida on August 24th.
