8. West Virginia

Ranking Last Week: Not Ranked

Week 10 Result: Win @ Texas 42-41

Upcoming Week: Home vs. TCU

West Virginia did just the opposite of what the Buckeyes did after their bad loss to Purdue. After the 31-14 loss to Iowa State the Mountaineers handed it to the Baylor Bears and then won a tough game on the road against the Texas Longhorns.

It is yet to be seen whether or not the Buckeyes will complete the second part of that equation but they certainly didn’t complete the first. The Mountaineers did and it is in large part thanks to Will Grier who has thrown for a combined 699 yards and 6 touchdowns in their last two games.

West Virginia will look to continue that against a struggling TCU team next week.

7. LSU

Ranking Last Week: 5

Week 10 Result: Loss vs. Alabama 29-0

Upcoming Week: Away @ Arkansas

LSU ended its difficult stretch of four games against ranked SEC opponents with a 2-2 record and a shutout loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide. I don’t think many people went into the contest thinking that LSU would win the game, but no one expected the Tigers to play the way they did.

Still, LSU is a two loss team that has looked great against everyone not named Alabama or Florida. Their huge win over Georgia is the main reason why they are still ranked over other teams on this list. The Tigers now get to let out their frustrations on a porous Arkansas Razorback team this week.
