Q: Will this upcoming Saturday be the best of the year?

A: This Saturday in college football is one analysts and fans circled way back in the summer and it sure is looking like it is going to live up to all of the hype. There is a huge slate of games with massive playoff implications on the line for teams from just about every conference.

Most notably:

Alabama (-14) @ LSU
Penn State @ Michigan (-10)
West Virginia @ Texas (-2)
Georgia (-9.5) @ Kentucky
Notre Dame (-9.5) @ Northwestern

The playoff picture will certainly become more clear, or murkier because this is college football, after all the games are played this weekend.

Q: No respect for LSU at home (+15). How surprised are you at the opening odds for LSU and can they pull off the miracle upset?

A: I was very surprised to see the line reach (-15) for Alabama, especially with the game being played in Baton Rouge. LSU is capable of pulling off the upset and will be contingent on winning the turnover battle and being able to sustain long touchdown drives to keep Heisman frontrunner Tua Tagovailoa off of the field as much as possible.

The spread being that big is Vegas begging bettors to take LSU, but it also tells you somebody knows something. If I were a betting man, I would stay away from this game as it has the potential to be a showdown for the ages with upset implications, but Alabama has looked invincible this year and LSU could just be another victim.
