Ohio State Football: 4th and Short, questions following Week 8
Q: Did Nick Bosa make that big of a difference for that [defense]? How much of his leadership is missed? How much of a selfish move was [his decision?
A: Nick Bosa’s presence and play making ability make a colossal difference for the Buckeyes. Bosa is arguably the best player in the NCAA as well as the projected No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick this year.

Having Bosa on the field alone requires opposing teams to develop a separate game plan just for defending him as well as how he almost always warrants a double team which frees up gaps and holes for his teammates.
His leadership is greatly missed as the Buckeyes lack the vocal leadership they have had in years past from most notably JT Barrett and Billy Price. Bosa led by example through his performance as well as pushed his teammates to be better in every facet of their game starting with their drive, motivation, and work ethic.
I do not believe his decision to not return as a player was selfish because of the risk of re-injury and his expected December return time. However, Bosa was elected as a captain by his teammates, but he withdrew from the university to focus on rehabbing his injury and preparing for the NFL.
Personally, I did not like that Bosa withdrew from Ohio State. I thought he should have waited until the season was over to do so especially because he was a captain. Nevertheless, I do understand and respect his thought process and decision and I am not judging him. I wish him all the best.
