3. Notre Dame

Notre Dame is one of the most sound and disciplined teams in the nation this season. They rank 36th with a turnover margin of +0.4 and they also rank 9th in the country in penalties per game only committing 4.4 penalties a game.

They are coming off a too close for comfort game against Pitt. But as I said in the Alabama section, pretty much every team has had a close call with a team that they should have beaten badly and Dame is no exception.

There is no denying since Ian Book has taken the helm Notre Dame has played better on basically all fronts, including defense. The offense playing at a high level has led to a shorter time on the field for the defense which is always a plus.

Not only is this Fighting Irish team for real, they are going to be a real pain in the sides of teams looking to get into the College Football Playoff.
