Ohio State Football: Week 8 CFP Power Rankings
5. Michigan
I was really hoping Wisconsin would win last week so I wouldn’t have to talk about Michigan this week in the power rankings.
Unfortunately, not only did the Wolverines defeat the Badgers, they dominated them for four quarters on both sides of the ball, and especially on defense.
The stat that most proves this the most is the rushing totals for the game. Wisconsin normally needs to control the line of scrimmage and dominate in the run game in order to hide a very shaky passing game. The Badgers did not do that at all and surrendered 320 yards to the Michigan offense, while only totaling 184 yards themselves.
That is a testament to how good this Wolverines defense has been this season.
Michigan has given up the least amount of total yards of any FBS college football team this season as well as being 3rd in rushing defense and 12th in passing defense. It is pretty hard to find a hole on this defense and that showed last week against Wisconsin.
It will be interesting to see who gets the better of the other next week when the two teams up north face off. Michigan State put up almost 300 passing yards in a win against Penn State at Happy Valley.
