Ohio State Recruiting: Your 2016 Buckeye Class, Part 2
By Dillon Davis
Kareem Felder- Franklin (Reisterstown, MD)
Size: 5’11”- 170 lbs.
Position: CB (#76 CB, 3 stars)
Felder is flying under the radar in this class, but the fact that the Ohio State coaching staff made him a priority very early in the recruiting cycle speaks to just how capable the guy is.
Originally committed to Virginia Tech, Felder flipped his decision to Ohio State in May of last year. He also said no to an offer from Clemson.
What he brings to the table is the physicality that Urban Meyer covets in his defensive backs. His position coach in high school, Cory Robinson, is now the director of player personnel at Maryland, and had this to say of Felder: “He has the ability to impact the game from anywhere on the field. He plays with wreckless abandon, yet is coachable and trust-worthy”.
It is hard to get a read on the true depth in the defensive backfield for the Buckeyes. There is plenty of talent there, but injuries and off-the-field issues have held some of the most talented back. Felder will also have to battle plenty of competition in his own class.
As it stands now, Felder seems like a good bet to redshirt. After a year of getting his body ready for major college football, he could find himself in the discussion for playing time in 2017.
