Ohio State Recruiting: Your 2016 Buckeye Class, Part 2
By Dillon Davis
Malik Barrow- IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL)
Size: 6’3″- 270 lbs.
Position: DT (#30 DT, 4 stars)
Barrow joined Tuf Borland in committing to the Buckeyes on the weekend of the spring game. After his mom and dad were able to sit down with Urban Meyer, it became a clean sweep. With his family on board, there was no doubt left about where he wanted to play his college ball at.
Barrow played all along the defensive line in high school, but there is no doubt that he will slide down to defensive tackle for Larry Johnson and the Buckeyes.
He is quick off the ball, with an explosive first step that can wreak havoc up the middle. Like many high school athletes getting ready to for big time college football, he is going to need to get stronger. He is an early enrollee, and will have the entire offseason in Mickey Marotti’s program to do just that.
Barrow suffered a knee injury just three games into his senior season, and it cost him the rest of the year. While he is expected to be full go by the time fall camp rolls around, having to ease his way back into full workouts could hamper his chances of making a real push for playing time.
At a position that will be one of the biggest question marks going into the season, Barrow certainly can’t be counted out though.
