Ohio State Recruiting: Your 2016 Buckeye Class, Part 2
By Dillon Davis
Tuf Borland- Bolingbrook (Bolingbrook, IL)
Size: 6’2″- 225 lbs.
Position: OLB (#21 OLB, 4 stars)
Despite being a Wisconsin legacy, and seemingly every recruiting analyst predicting him to be a Badger, Borland became a very surprising addition to the class in April of last year.
He held offers from just about every school in the Big Ten, but it was Wisconsin who held every crystal ball prediction from 247‘s vast group of contributors.
A no nonsense type of guy, Borland’s commitment to Ohio State was the end of his recruitment. He never took another visit, nor did he flirt with any other schools.
For the longest time it appeared that the Buckeyes were only going to take one linebacker in the class, which speaks volumes to just how highly thought of Borland was to the Ohio State coaching staff, Luke Fickell in particular.
Borland is another early enrollee, and will come into an unsettled situation at the outside linebacker positions. Dante Booker and Chris Worley appear to have the inside track to start, as of now, but that is far from a certainty.
Whether or not he can make a big enough splash to be considered for a starting job remains to be seen, but making a case for a spot in the two deep is very much within his reach.
