Will Urban Meyer vs. Jim Harbaugh be the next Woody vs. Bo, or will it be more like Cooper vs. Carr, but with Ohio State being the winners more often when it comes to the latter comparison?
As long as this rivalry can become more than Urban vs. Brady, fans of the rivalry and fans of both of these teams will have a lot to look forward to.
Everyone has to admit when both of these teams are on top of their game, “The Game” is a lot more entertaining and even nerve wracking to watch. Remember the 2006 game Ohio State and Michigan game that sent the Buckeyes to the BCS National Championship game, this rivalry needs that feeling again.
Do I believe it will happen again this season, no, but maybe one day “The Game” can become the “The Most Important Game” once again.
Gabrielle McMillen of Perform Media (via the Sporting News) wrote this about the rivalry between Ohio State and Michigan:
"“Jim Harbaugh’s hiring at Michigan renewed a sense of hope for the downtrodden Wolverines, who went 5-7 last season and 3-5 in Big Ten play. That rejuvenation also strengthened Michigan’s hostility toward archrival Ohio State. Even Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer can feel the change that Harbaugh’s presence brought.”"
Though it has been great for OSU fans to see the Buckeyes dominate “The Game” in recent seasons, as a fan of good competitive football, I’d rather see more games like 2006 when these two programs face each other in their yearly game.
This year the two rivals will face each other on Nov. 28 in Ann Arbor.
