The Ohio State football team has strong pieces in place to make another run at the national championship. Here are 3 predictions for the Buckeyes in the 2020 season.

The Ohio State Buckeyes had a great season, even if they came up a little short of their overall goal. Ryan Day said the pain from this game will help fuel the team in 2020. Here are 3 predictions I am making for the Buckeyes next year.

Justin Fields will win the Heisman Trophy.

Justin Fields was really good this year. 41 passing touchdowns with over 3,200 passing yards while also getting 10 rushing touchdowns with 484 yards on the ground good. And that was his first season starting in college.

With an entire off-season to hone his craft, I expect Justin Fields to absolutely dominate in 2020. Ryan Day showed that no matter the opponent, Ohio State comes to play. This will help Justin Fields put up ridiculous numbers while only playing a half against many opponents.

He had incredible numbers this year and lost a lot of playing time. Fields was very close to winning the Heisman this year (Joe Burrow’s record-breaking year was never going to be caught) and next year he has a better chance.

There are two things that will help propel the Buckeye QB over the top next year.

First is that the schedule and hype play in his favor. Ohio State plays bigger games earlier in 2020 than they did in 2019. This past year, Fields was not given the benefit of the doubt with many people saying playing weaker opponents allowed him to shine.

2020 will let Fields break out against Oregon, Iowa and Penn State before the end of October. This will allow the voters to be impressed early and often in his campaign.

The second big change is that there is no more J.K. Dobbins. Fields will be asked to carry a bigger load, which in turn will allow him to gain more yards both through the air and on the ground.

Justin Fields will shoulder this offense and be rewarded with a trophy.
