It was an eventful Week 2 for former Ohio State players in the NFL as some new names make the list. Who were the Buckeyes that shined the brightest last week?

Week 2 of the NFL season is officially behind us and as always, there are plenty of Ohio State alumni that made big impacts for their teams. Let’s get into who made the biggest impact last week.

Let’s first look at the receivers.

Paris Campbell:  Now Campbell made the smallest impact of all of the Buckeyes that are included this week. But I felt that it was worth mentioning his first ever career NFL touchdown. It was a 12 yard reception, and while it may have been his only catch on the day it was a big one that put the Colts up by seven.

Campbell hasn’t been on the field much for the Colts in his first two NFL games, but it’s clear that when he is on the field he has the chance to make an impact.

Terry McLaurin:  What a start to an NFL career McLaurin has had as he looks to be the number one target for Case Keenum in the Redskins passing attack. The rookie has led the Redskins in targets, receiving yards and catches through the first two weeks of the season.

He didn’t quite live up to his 125 yards showing from week one, but he was able to get into the endzone again while also adding five catches and 62 yards to his line.

McLaurin has the fifth most receiving yards in NFL history by a receiver through their first two  games. His skills will be put on center stage next week as they take on the Bears on Monday Night Football.

Curtis Samuel:  Samuel had been nursing injuries for his first two NFL seasons, but after a solid game on Thursday Night Football last week he could be ready to break out. In an offense that doesn’t really have a number one target, Samuel looks primed to step into that role as the season goes on.

He caught five balls for 91 yards last week and despite the obvious struggles of Cam Newton, Samuel still showcased his playmaking ability.

Expect Samuel to possibly see more carries out of the backfield next week as well as a continued effort to get him the ball through the air.

Devin Smith:  In the surprise performance of the week, Devin Smith came out of nowhere and caught his first touchdown pass since 2015. Smith was seemingly out of the NFL after only playing four games in 2016 and playing none the last two seasons.

Apparently though, Smith is ready to make an impact in 2019 for the Cowboys as he caught this 51-yard bomb from Dak Prescott.

Overall on the day for Smith, he had three catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. We all know that Smith has track-like speed, it was just a matter of him being able to stay on the field.

With Michael Gallup ruled out of next weeks game, Smith should see even more targets against the Dolphins.

Now for two running backs and a linebacker.
