If you want to place a wager on a team to make the College Football Playoff the betting odds are in. Ohio State looks to be a contender according to Vegas.

While some polls and one power index have Ohio State slipping down a notch with Urban Meyer stepping down Vegas doesn’t. Betting lines have the Buckeyes in contention to make the College Football playoff.

Here are odds of some of the teams those who set the odds think have a chance of being included in the Final Four as reported by Brad Crawford of 247Sports.  And of course I’ll give my takes on the betting lines

Florida-Oregon tied (+800):  I don’t think Florida has much of a shot because they have to defeat Georgia to win the SEC East. Oregon may run through the PAC 12 and could make it to the CFP.

Auburn (+700):  I don’t understand the hype Auburn has been getting. Am I missing something?

Nebraska (+600):  I like the direction Scott Frost has his program going but this isn’t the year Nebraska gets back to being a national title contender. If his team upsets Ohio State, runs through the Big Ten West and defeats the East division champion coming off a 4-8 season, he will be deserving of Coach of the Year honors.

Texas (+500) : Is Tom Herman’s squad ready to compete with Oklahoma? I’m not so sure.

More from Ohio State Football

LSU (+400):  Joe Burrow had a nice season in 2018 and I expect the former Ohio State QB to perform well this year. With the talent on the LSU roster, I think the Tigers are a legitimate contender.

Oklahoma (+360):  Beat Texas and Oklahoma is in. The CFP is in love with Lincoln Riley’s offense even if the Sooners can’t play with the big boys.

Ohio State (+300):  Good buy even with a new head coach and a new QB. The Buckeyes are loaded on both sides of the ball.

Michigan (+225):  Are you betting on ‘Not Big Game Jim’?

Georgia (+100):  The SEC could get two teams into the CFP again. Georgia may not have to win the conference championship to make the Final Four.

Alabama-Clemson (-600):  The Clemson Tigers should make it back to defend their title but the Alabama Crimson Tide will have a more difficult road. I wouldn’t bet against either team.
