Kyler Murray’s Pro Day workout and the Odell Beckham Jr. trade could affect when two Ohio State football players are chosen in the NFL Draft.

Recent events may have moved two Ohio State football players down in the draft. A measurement and a Pro Day may have affected where Nick Bosa is chosen, and Dwayne Haskins probably won’t be the first quarterback taken off the board. But the Buckeye quarterback’s draft status may be even more affected by a trade.

The long-awaited Oklahoma Sooners Pro Day took place last Wednesday and NFL scouts and general managers were able to see Kyler Murray throw a football in person. By everything I have read and heard they walked away impressed.

It’s quite likely he will now be the first player taken in the NFL Draft. It has been widely reported new Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury loves the Oklahoma QB and thinks he will fit for his wide open offense.

If for some reason he isn’t able to convince his general manager Steve Keim to take Murray, which I think he will, there will almost certainly be other teams trying to trade for the No. 1 pick to get him. If I am correct, that will probably affect the draft status of at least one Buckeye.

Many thought Nick Bosa would be the No. 1 overall pick until Murray’s stock began to climb. Now the Ohio State defensive end will probably be chosen right behind Murray or 3rd like his brother Joey.

Now it’s difficult to feel too bad for Bosa because he will be a rich young man. But he will lose the prestige that comes with being the No. 1 overall pick and will lose more money than many people will earn in a lifetime.

Here are the reported contracts of the first three players in last year’s draft class per OverTheCap.com.

  • Baker Mayfield: $32,682,980
  • Saquon Barkley: $31,194,750
  • Sam Darnold: $ 29,247,694

These are four-year deals and fully guaranteed.

Now a look at how Dwayne Haskins’ draft status may have changed recently,
