As we saw last weekend in the opener against Navy, the Ohio State offense is not bad by any means, but there is still a lot of work to do. Whatever issues there are need fixing, and quickly, because the team will be facing one of the best defensive coordinators of this generation in Virginia Tech’s Bud Foster.
Throughout his long tenure at Virginia Tech, Foster has made a name for himself by consistently finding ways to give offenses fits, and he’ll be looking to do the same thing this weekend to Urban Meyer and his gameplan.
But according to Foster, he might have a leg up on that gameplan, because he sees a lot of similarities between the Ohio State offense and a team that he sees on a regular basis in the ACC, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Foster said Ohio State is lot like Georgia Tech on offense philosophically. Will run, run, run, then take a shot downfield. #Hokies

Now, yes, Paul Johnson and Meyer run different offensive schemes, however what Foster is saying does make sense. Meyer consistently uses the running game to set up the big shots down the field, which will be a big point of emphasis throughout the week in his preparations.
