Ohio State drops to no. 7 in Amway USA Today Coaches Poll for Week 2

Heading into the opening game against Navy this past Saturday, the Ohio State Buckeyes were ranked fifth in the nation, despite being without starting senior quarterback Braxton Miller. That’s because the initial rankings came out before Miller was injured. So it was more than likely inevitable that the Buckeyes would drop in the rankings, win or lose.

Well that was indeed the case on Tuesday as, when the Amway USA Today Coaches Poll was released, the Buckeyes took a dip down to the no. 7 spot, which isn’t all that bad when you think about it.

For Ohio State to remain near the top tier, they would have had to blow Navy right out of the stadium in Baltimore, which as we saw, they did not do. As a matter of fact, at times it seemed like the Buckeyes could be in danger of dropping the opener. However, they were able to collect themselves and get the 34-17 win.

Here is a look at the complete Coaches Poll rankings that were released on Tuesday.
