Ohio State Buckeyes tight end Jeff Heuerman, amid some concern throughout the past few weeks, has given everyone an answer as to whether or not he will play in the team’s opener on Saturday against Navy. According to Heuerman, he will indeed be taking the field against the Midshipmen, although he will be limited.
“It’s one of those day by day things. We’ll see come Saturday how it’s feeling,” Heuerman said Wednesday after practice. “I’m playing Saturday, it’s just one of those things how much.
“It’s a long season, is the way the coaches are handling it. It’s a long season and you’ve got to look at the big picture. But I’ll definitely be out there Saturday, there’s no doubt about that.”
Heuerman has not done much with the team as he recovered from some nagging injuries this offseason, but it’s easy to keep an experienced senior like Heuerman away from activities. Once he is able to get back to full force, then it will be back to business as usual.
But it will definitely be beneficial for J.T. Barrett that someone like Heuerman on the field with him as he starts his journey as the starting quarterback of the Buckeyes.
