As we inch closer and closer to the Ohio State Buckeyes’ season beginning on Saturday against Navy, everyone is waiting to see how redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett will perform in his first game taking over for the injured Braxton Miller. There have been some doubters out there, but former Ohio State Heisman winner Eddie George is not one of them.
Actually, not only does George think that Barrett will be just fine, he thinks that he can eventually etch his name into Ohio State lore.
“You have to understand, football has changed over the last 15 to 20 years with passing camps and all the various camps they have throughout the year, so these kids are coming in game-ready,” he said. “I would not be surprised to see J.T. Barrett become the next star at Ohio State.”
That’s some high praise from one of the best to ever play in Columbus, and it didn’t end with just saying that he could be the next star in an Ohio State uniform.
“I hear they rave about his leadership abilities and he has the intangibles to be a good quarterback,” George said. “Now he just needs the experience and opportunity to show what he can do.”
We’ll begin to see on Saturday whether or not George is on to something in regards to Barrett.
