Ohio State Football: Buckeyes land at no. 4 in Sports Illustrated preseason rankings

Sports Illustrated recently released their preseason Top 25 rankings, and the Ohio State Buckeyes were definitely shown the love, landing in their rankings at the no. 4 slot.

As with a lot of the other rankings, Ohio State is getting a lot of praise before the season even starts, with a lot of folks selecting them as one of the participants in the inaugural College Football Playoff, which begins this season.

Whether or not that ultimately happens, well, we’ll have to wait to find that out. But they are definitely getting a lot of the respect beforehand, and here’s what Pete Thamel from SI had to say.

“As Urban Meyer enters his third season at Ohio State, his SEC-style front four should bull-rush the Buckeyes into the College Football Playoff. Tackles Michael Bennett, a 6’2″, 288-pound senior, and Adolphus Washington, a 6’4″, 288-pound junior, fit new line coach Larry Johnson’s preference for leaner bodies and explosive hips over sloppy gap stuffers.”

Oh boy, there are going to be a lot of people from down south angry at the “SEC-style front” comments, but it is true.
