With the 2014 college football season almost here, the various rankings will be coming out. ESPN on Monday released their preseason Big Ten power rankings, and to really no surprise, the Ohio State Buckeyes sit right at the top of the heap heading into the new year.
To the team with the best quarterback, the most accomplished coach and the best talent goes the top spot. Remember, though, the Buckeyes have lost two straight (and nearly three) after 24 consecutive wins under Urban Meyer.
For the most part, nearly every media outlet will more than likely have the Buckeyes at the top of their lists, and rightfully so. You may see Michigan State pop in at the top of a few, and again, they deserve it because they are the kings of the conference–for now.
As for the rest of the rankings, those Spartans came in at no. 2 for ESPN, while the Nebraska Cornhuskers landed at the three spot, with the Wisconsin Badgers and Iowa Hawkeyes right behind them to round out the top 5.
