Greg Oden now facing felony charges after arrest for battery

The news keeps getting worse for former Ohio State Buckeyes basketball star Greg Oden after he was arrested last week on battery charges following an incident with his girlfriend. Now, according to a report from the Indianapolis Star, Oden now faces felony charges, which could end up landing him behind bars.

Former Miami Heat player Greg Oden is now facing a felony charge after police said he punched his former girlfriend in the face.

Oden, 26, was charged in Marion Superior Court today with one count of battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony, as well as misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and battery resulting in bodily injury.

His felony offense carries a penalty of one to six years behind bars.

Oden was arrested last Thursday at his mother’s house for the alleged offense, an offense that could derail his playing days for good, should he be convicted.

After not living up to the hype in his NBA career thus far, at least not near what most thought when he was coming out of Ohio State, Oden has been on various benches, most recently with the Miami Heat.

Now, though, his days in the NBA could be severely numbered.
