Preseason USA TODAY Coaches Poll 2014: Ohio State ranked sixth in initial rankings

Yet another sign that the 2014 college football season is right around the corner has arrived as the USA TODAY Amway preseason Coaches Poll has been released. And in these initial rankings, the Ohio State Buckeyes come in ranked at no. 6.

Here’s a look at the entire rankings.

  1. Florida State
  2. Alabama
  3. Oklahoma
  4. Oregon
  5. Auburn
  6. Ohio State
  7. UCLA
  8. Michigan State
  9. South Carolina
  10. Baylor
  11. Stanford
  12. Georgia
  13. LSU
  14. Wisconsin
  15. USC
  16. Clemson
  17. Notre Dame
  18. Arizona State
  19. Ole Miss
  20. Texas A&M
  21. Kansas State
  22. Nebraska
  23. North Carolina
  24. Texas
  25. Washington

Of course it is really no surprise that the Florida State Seminoles come in ranked at the top, and they were voted there in overwhelming fashion as well.

With Jameis Winston returning, plus a slew of talented athletes around him, it’s no shock whatsoever that the ‘Noles took top billing.

But as far as Ohio State coming in at six, that seems about right. Head coach Urban Meyer seems to agree with that, too.

Now also, we have to remember that this poll really has no bearing this season on how everything plays out. But they still have to do it, nonetheless.
