Whoever does win the 2014 college football national championship this season, they will have to do soe by going down a different road, as the days of the BCS are now gone and the College Football Playoff is here. With that, there is a new trophy that will be handed out to the best team in college football next January, and that was revealed on Monday.

During a short presentation, the College Football Playoff committee unveiled the trophy, and it really did start to sink in that a new era in crowning a college football national champion really is upon us.

Well that’s certainly a lot different than the crystal ball that we’ve all grown accustomed to over the years, but again, this is the dawning of a new era in 2014, so it all has to appear fresh.

This year’s semifinals will be held at the Rose and Sugar Bowls respectively, before the winners from those contests will meet one another for this trophy in Dallas.

Hopefully, we get to see Braxton Miller, Urban Meyer and company hoist that up when all is said and done.
