The Ohio State Buckeyes may have lost out on linebacker Jerome Baker last week, who chose to head to Gainesville and play for the Florida Gators rather than come to Columbus like some had predicted he would. Nonetheless, there are still a lot of top targets on the Buckeyes’ radar, and one of them is five-star running back Damien Harris.
Last week, The Opening was held out in Beaverton, Oregon, showcasing some of the best high school talent the country has at the moment. Harris was one of the prospects in attendance, and according to Gary Laney of cleveland.com, he definitely opened up some eyes while he was going through his workouts.
Best RB: Damien Harris (Barea, Ky./Madison Southern; uncommitted)
Harris showed up well in 1-on-1 drills and did a good job catching passes out of the backfield during 7-on-7. While a 7-on-7 setting isn’t always the best place to evaluate running backs, Harris did nothing to hurt his stock.
Harris is one of the more versatile athletes in the nation, and the fact that he did well in pass-catching drills highlights that tremendously.
Harris still has a lot of time to make his final decision, but it keeps looking more and more as if the Buckeyes might be the leader in the race.
