As first reported by Scout’s Bill Greene, the Buckeyes picked up their ninth commitment for the class of 2015 in 3-star CB Denzel Ward. Ward verbally committed to the Buckeyes after receiving an offer from the coaching staff yesterday afternoon. Ward is the sixth 2015 recruit from the state of Ohio and is considered the 30th best player in the state. He is a slight, speedy player with his Hudl Profile listing him at 5’11″, 165 pounds and timed at 4.31 in the 40-yard dash.
Denzel Ward had offers from several mid-level FBS schools, including Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, Washington State, and B1G newcomer, Rutgers. His commitment gives Ohio State five commitments within the past month and three within as many days. This is a good sign after what had been a slow start to the 2015 recruiting class.
The Buckeyes have now cracked the top 25 in 247′s recruiting rankings, jumping 22 spots since the previous rankings were released. There is still a long way to go for Urban to maintain his standard “top three” ranking, but if he can keep up the recent hot streak, there’s no doubt the Buckeyes will continue to fill the cupboard with talented players.
