While the 2015 recruiting process has been slow overall for the Ohio State Buckeyes, that should never stop anyone from looking ahead to the future. On Thursday, we may have gotten a glimpse into that future as one of the top 2016 offensive tackles in the nation, Liam Eichenberg out of St. Ignatius, named the Buckeyes as his top three at the moment.
“I would say Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan are my top three right now,” Eichenberg said.
He then went on to break down his interest in each program, and here’s what he had to say about Ohio State:
Ohio State: “With Ohio State, it’s obviously my home state and I love Coach (Urban) Meyer. It just feels like home for me when I’m (at Ohio State), and I will be coming back here again this summer to visit.”
And of course, because I’m sure there are some wondering, here’s what he had to say about those guys in blue:
“Michigan has a great program, and (defensive coordinator) Greg Mattison is a great guy. It feels like family up there, and Michigan is a lot like Ignatius in that regard. I will be at Michigan’s camp on June 17.”
While this may seem insignificant to some, given how much time is left between now and February of 2016, it’s actually not, given the fact that Eichenberg has said that he wants to make his college choice prior to his senior season. Therefore, a decision could come at any time.
