Head coach Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes recently received their long-awaited third commitment of the 2015 recruiting class when Ohio native, quarterback Joe Burrow pledged his allegiance to Columbus.
Recently the Columbus Dispatch had a chance to catch up with Ohio State’s newest commit and he stressed that with that designation of being the latest commit, he realizes that he now needs to help recruit other Ohio athletes to join him.
“I definitely need to do it, as the third commit, and I’m from Ohio,” Burrow said. “I’ve got to get on some of the guys who are on the fringe and push them over the edge.”
He then talked about what he needs to work on a little bit in his mechanics, although he also cited that Coach Herman will be waiting to help him get rid of some of the bad habits.
“They’re telling me I need to get my arm up more when I throw and that I need to keep my back leg down,” Burrow said. “But (OSU offensive coordinator Tom Herman) will fix that when I get to Ohio State.”
Finally, in regards to his recent appearance at the Elite 11 Camp, he believes that he turned some heads of some people who may doubt his arm strength.
“It was great, the best quarterbacks in the area, good to compete with them, and I think I played pretty well,” he said. “I think I showed my arm strength. A lot of people don’t think I have great arm strength, but I think I showed that pretty well.”
Again, as I’ve said before, some were a bit worried that Burrow’s commitment could scare away other potential quarterback targets, such as Torrance Gibson, and you know what, it very well might.
But if that does turn out to be the case, the more you hear from the young Burrow, the more you get comfortable with everything he brings to the table.
