A $100 million dollar win. I’m sure you won’t find a quote from Urban Meyer about it, but Ohio State’s meaningless touchdown as time expired meant a lot to many bettors around the country. In Vegas-land and gamble-mania, the Buckeyes were favored by 5.5-6.5 points over Northwestern. With just seconds left on the clock and Northwestern down four and facing their final play of the game, the Wildcats put their hope in a miracle and passed it over the middle of the field and began the lateral game. Two poor tosses later and the ball was trickling towards the endzone, where OSU lineman Joey Bosa fell on it for the score. The score meant nothing to outcome of the game, but everything to thousands of fans around the country.

It has been estimated that over 90% of bettors put their trust in the Buckeyes and all those fans nearly went to bad angry that night. One of those fans might have been Brent Musberger. As the game ended, Musberger was quoted, on national television no less, as saying,

There are some folks who are celebrating and other folks who are saying ‘you gotta be kidding me.

The last second touchdown is the reason Ohio State covered the spread and bettors around the country went to bed thanking Bosa. The Buckeyes have this week off before hosting Iowa on the 19th.
