It doesn’t top his Super Bowl heroics, but it was certainly one of the prettier plays we saw from a Jets team that committed 20 penalties.
Former Buckeye Santonio Holmes played hero in the Jets’ 27-20 victory over the Buffalo Bills this afternoon, hauling in a 69-yard pass from Geno Smith to give the Jets what would ultimately be the game-winning touchdown. Holmes proved to be a huge contributor in the passing game all day, catching five passes on 10 targets for 154 yards.
The touchdown catch was Holmes’ first of the season, and this game really signified that he’s returned to form after recovering from surgery this offseason. Holmes’ production has climbed at a steep rate through the first three games, going from a lone 13-yard catch in Week 1 to 5 catches for over 130 yards this week.
While the Jets played arguably their weakest opponent thus far this week in the Bills, Holmes’ big game is still a very encouraging sign for the Jets, who have already surpassed expectations with a 2-1 record through three games.
