The city of Berkeley was ignited in flames by Kenny Guiton and the Buckeyes early in this game, as Guiton threw three TDs in the first six minutes.
Although the second quarter didn’t include quite as much flare, Kenny did lead the Buckeyes for a score early on, as the Bucks went up 31-14 over the Golden Bears. Guiton showcased his ability of a dual-threat QB early in the second quarter, including an 11-yard run for a critical first down during their scoring drive. Sadly, we weren’t able to see as much of Kenny after that, as California had the majority of possession time. Guiton had an opportunity to drive OSU for a 2nd second quarter TD with four minutes left, but running Jordan Hall was stuffed on 3rd and 1, leaving the Bucks with no choice but to punt.
So far in this game, Guiton hasn’t thrown an interception, and has been mostly accurate with his passes. He was often working the shovel pass, but none of them were very productive in advancing the offense. The lack of offense from Buckeyes let the Golden Bears resurge, and the game is closer than what most analysts thought be, only an 11 point lead for OSU.
