Ohio State alum Brian Hartline had a big game this afternoon in the Dolphins 23-10 win at the Cleveland Browns. Hartline was targeted 15 times, having 9 receptions for 114 yards and a TD.
Hartline, 26, is entering his 5th year in the NFL, and he started it off on the right note today. Hartline had a career year last year with Miami, racking up 1,083 yards on 74 receptions. In three years at Ohio State, Hartline racked up 90 receptions for 1,429 yards and 12 TD.
Hartline has never been blessed with a good quarterback in Miami, perhaps until last year. Hartline had a career year in 2012 with a rookie Ryan Tannehill, and now has a new toy on his offense in former Steelers wideout Mike Wallace. Wallace drew the majority of the Browns’ attention in this afternoon’s game, leaving Hartline to have a field day against a very thin Browns secondary.
While it was just one game, and it was against a Browns team that’s not necessarily known for being a defensive force, Hartline certainly left reason to believe that 2013 could be his best season yet. In a year where the AFC East is considered the worst it’s been in years, perhaps Hartline could see postseason action if the Dolphins can carry this type of offensive production throughout the year.
