The hiring of Urban Meyer before last season was met with a lot of scrutiny and criticism, especially after Meyer did not coach in the 2011 season. With Meyer’s success as a young coach at Florida, he is already considered one of the best coaches in all of college football today. After Ohio States dismal 6-7 season in 2011, Urban Meyer took the reins to begin the 2012 season. Last season, with Ohio State under bowl sanctions, Urban Meyer really had nothing to lose. He had a new team, and he wanted to show the college football world what he had, and he did just that. The Buckeyes went 12-0 last season, the only team who went undefeated. Even the juggernaut, Alabama, lost one game. The Buckeyes, though, knew that they weren’t playing for a bowl appearance, but instead to prove to the nation that in 2013, they would be a legitimate title contender.
Heisman hopeful QB Braxton Miller looks to have a huge year, leading his team to a National Title. This season the Buckeyes need to go 14-0 to win the BCS National Championship, pushing their total W/L record under Urban Meyer to 26-0. This team definitely has the potential and the talent to do so, but will they fall off? Will they get tripped up by another Big Ten team? Who knows? We will have to just wait and see, and it should be fun coming down the stretch.
