The NFL season is just 48 hours away! Practice squads and roster cuts have finally become finalized as the preseason came to a close. Former Buckeyes FB Zach Boren (Texans), TE Jake Stoneburner (Packers), OT Reid Fragel (Bengals), RB Daniel “Boom” Herron (Bengals), and OT J.B. Shugarts (Jets) were all signed to practice squads. Dane Sanzenbacher was able to make the 53-man roster for the Bengals. Undrafted offensive lineman Michael Brewster was able to make the Jaguars for the second consecutive year. More good news arrived for safeties Kurt Coleman with the Eagles and Nate Ebner with the Patriots were able to survive the round of the cuts.
Other Former Buckeyes were not so lucky. DT Garrett Goebel was cut from the Rams. LB Etienne Sabino was cut from the Giants. CB Travis Howard and S Orhian Johnson were let go by the Texans. Lastly, DE/LB Nathan Williams was cut by the Vikings, signed with the Dolphins and was then waived by Miami. Veteran Buckeyes also received some bad news. Offensive lineman Bryant Browning was cut from the Giants, defensive ends Jay Richardson (Saints) and Thaddeus Gibson (Dallas) were let go. Linebackers Brian Rolle (Steelers) and Austin Spitler (Miami) could not make their respective teams. Lastly, TE Jake Ballard was unable to make the Patriots.
