Update: Sullinger Pleades Not Guilty to Domestic Violence Charges

1:32: Sullinger pleads not guilty to charges that he pinned his girlfriend down and snatched her phone.

11:28: Early Tuesday, former Ohio State buckeye Jared Sullinger turned himself into police. It was reported that the Boston Celtic was involved in a domestic incident with his girlfriend this past weekend. Before turning himself in, police had a warrant for Sullinger’s arrest. Police have said that his girlfriend is doing ok, and that there was no need for a trip to the hospital. Other than the basics, nothing more has been released by the police.

He is going to court on Tuesday to face a few charges including assault and battery, witness intimidation, and malicious destruction of property. He is about to begin his second season with the Celtics, where just last year he averaged 6 points and 5.9 rebounds a game.

The first round draft pick last year only played in 45 games due to a back injury, and ultimately missed the rest of the season because of surgery. He is expected to have a big sophomore year and more time on the court with the departures of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry; although now it is obviously unclear as to how much time he will actually see.

His back injury was the main reason he fell on the draft board all the way to number 21 in 2012, but maybe that wasn’t the only issue with Sullinger.
