Ohio State unveiled a new banner and a new motto during its first official spring practice. The banner was emblazoned with the words ‘The Chase’.
“Some guys are chasing starting positions, some guys are chasing a bowl game, some guys an NFL contract. … It means more, but that’s where we’re going to stop,” said Meyer of the banner.
It is a sign of how Meyer get its. It takes a lot to motivate different players. For a player who is buried on the depth chart, it might be able landing some more playing time. For a starter, it might be about the national title. For others, it may only be able themselves and how much money they can make in the NFL. But, if everyone pursues their own goals, it may very well end up helping the team in the long run.
Ultimately, the end goal is at least an undefeated season. Anything less than an undefeated season would be a step back for many fans. A step forward would be playing in the national title, not necessarily winning but getting there. Other highlights might be Braxton Miller winning the Heisman Trophy.
Regardless of what fans individually think, this is a season of great expectations. Meyer lived up to the expectations his first year at Ohio State and even exceeded them. What can he do for an encore? What do you expect? Comment below.
