The 14th ranked Buckeyes travel to Bloomington, Indiana to take on the 2nd ranked Hoosiers at Assembly Hall. In the last meeting, the Buckeyes were destroyed by Indiana, 81-68. Victor Oladipo scored 26 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Hoosiers in the victory. The actually shot the ball well but failed to stop the Hoosier’s Offensive onslaught.
Indiana is coming off a victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes, 73-60. The Hoosiers recovered after losing to Minnesota on Tuesday, 77-73. With the loss, the Hoosier also lost the #1 ranking. The loss is probably a negative for the teams who are facing the Hoosiers following this loss. The Hoosiers are determined to improved after being embarrassed by the Gophers.
The Buckeyes enter tomorrow’s game riding a 3-game winning streak, which included a win over the Michigan State Spartans, 68-60. The Buckeyes followed up that victory with another against Northwestern, 63-53.
Do the Buckeyes have the firepower to stay with the Hoosiers? As the first game demonstrated, probably not. If Ohio State wants to win the game, they are going to have to limit the Hoosiers to between 60 or 70 points. This has only happened 4 times this season.
The prototype for a Buckeye victory would probably be the Wisconsin victory over Hoosiers on January 15th. The Badgers limited the Hoosiers to .370 shooting and only 59 points. Ohio State is more than capable of doing that but it will take a dedicated Defensive performance.
