OSU 2013 Class: Cameron Burrows

by Buckeye Clips

Save the best for last?  No thanks, says Urban Meyer.  Instead, let’s go ahead and lock up 2013′s best player in the state of Ohio right now.  Cam Burrows committed to OSU on January 19, 2012, and continued a recruiting stretch that we have not seen at OSU in quite some time, if ever.  Meyer made it clear that he would be aggressive in his recruiting efforts, especially inside of Ohio’s borders, and he has shown that with this commitment.  Burrows is currently listed by Rivals as the #7 overall prospect in the nation for the 2013 class.  His skill set should translate very quickly into playing time at the next level, assuming that he continues to mature and work hard this year and next.

Burrows has the speed, quickness, and ball skills to become an impact cornerback in the Big Ten, but his large frame and physicality could allow him to play safety as well.  A defensive back with this combination of quickness and size is rare at any level, and will certainly help to add depth to OSU’s secondary next year.  Burrows may be the first of many future Buckeyes to come from Trotwood, as they have am abundance of talent, but were never a target of Jim Tressel’s, for reasons unknown to most.  If there is an area where Cam could stand to improve, like most high school athletes preparing to jump to Big Ten play, it is in his overall strength.  However, I have no doubt that Mickey Marotti has already taken on this task and assigned some general workout and nutrition guidelines for this future Buckeye.
