Eyes will be glued to TV sets across the nation. People will remember exactly where they were when this game was played. Babies born in each state will be named after players on either team. This will be the most exciting rematch of two talented football programs EVER!
No, I’m not referring to the pillow fight taking place in New Orleans on January 9th between LSU and Alabama. I’m referring to the Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl on January 2nd in Jacksonville, Florida…obviously. For those out there that do not grasp sarcasm, relax and take a few deep breaths, I’m only kidding.
Have I wanted there to be a rematch of the 2007 National Championship Game that completely embarrassed and frustrated Buckeye fans everywhere? Yes.
Did I envision that it would happen when both teams were entering the game with 6-6 records, total offenses ranking in the 100s (Florida – 102nd, OSU – 107th), and with little to no care from the rest of the country? No, not at all.
That said, it’s still a bowl game, and I’d still take pleasure in a win over the
SEC Florida Gators. However, if the Buckeyes (especially #7, Jordan Hall) return the opening kickoff for a touchdown, then I will politely turn off the TV, get up from my chair, and find something else to do, as I should have done 5 years ago.
